Well, if so, you came to the right place! Mole removal can be a daunting task, but I am here to help! I love teaching people how to catch their own moles and it may not be as difficult as you think. Moles are doing what God created them to do, forage for food. It just so happens that when they are foraging in your lawn it is not a very pleasant experience! Your yard is being destroyed with tunnels and mole hills and you are getting frustrated. I have developed a simple method that could get you well on the way to removing moles from your property. If you go to my “MO Manual” it will explain 5 easy steps to get you started. I also have videos with tutorials on social media that will walk you through the process. You can “Pick Your Punch” above to take you to your favorite app to learn how. I know of lots of great mole catchers that can trap them for you at a price, but there is nothing like the feeling of pulling one out of the ground yourself! I enjoy helping my neighbors and others catch their moles. I hope you will try my technique and feel that rush when you catch your first one!
God has blessed me with a great job, and I do not charge to catch moles. I pay to translocate and feed them myself. I am trying to grow my social media platforms with the hope to retire someday and continue to catch moles for free! If you follow and share my videos that would really help me on my mission!
Roman’s 15:2 says, “Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.” Who knows, before long maybe you will be helping your neighbors with their mole issues!
God Bless and Happy Mole Hunting!
Born in May of 67’ and raised in Eastern Missouri, I have always been intrigued with nature. Starting at a young age I loved going into the woods and turning over rocks, rotten wood or a sheet of metal to see what critters were under there. I had a knack for catching whatever I could whether it was a spider, a salamander or a snake. There was just a rush about catching animals alive, especially if you were just using your bare hands! We also camped a lot on the weekends when I was growing up, so I got the opportunity to learn about river life as well by catching turtles, crawdads and fish. There was always an adventure just around the corner and something just waiting to be caught!
Fast forward to 2017. It was a tough year. In January my father was diagnosed with a brain tumor and just four months later he was gone. He was a great Christian Father. He had a knack for catching animals as well. One thing he was really good at catching was moles. Moles can be very elusive, but he had a way of finding them. He would not only catch them in his yard, but he would catch them for his neighbors or kinfolk as well. He used mole traps a lot of the time, but I also watched him catch them alive! It was pretty exciting! He would quietly sneak up to an area, watch for the ground to move, then stomp behind the mole and flip it out with a mattock. It was impressive! All he needed was his big boot and something to flip the mole out of the ground. If he didn’t have a mattock, he would use whatever he had that he could dig with. I even watched him flip one out with a screwdriver one time. My dad was very detailed and he would log all of his catches in a little tally book that counted all the moles he caught over the year.
Shortly after my dad passed, we moved into a new home and guess what? A mole showed up in my yard. I decided I would try to catch this mole like dad showed me. I walked down the run then I came back later and saw the ground moving. I stomped behind the mole and flipped it right out with a mattock! It was a success! I was so pumped! I made a Facebook post about how my dad would be so proud of me! My neighbor saw the post and asked if I could help him catch the little excavator that was tearing up his yard and I said, “I could try.” Once again success! A post was added to our Subdivision Facebook page stating that I could catch moles and the post blew up! Neighbor after neighbor posted they had moles, so off I went! The more I caught the more I learned. There are only 28 homes in our small subdivision, but I have caught over 200 moles!
During Covid I ran across one tricky little mole that was by my neighbor’s pool. I walked down the runs and when I came back and checked, he already had the ground worked back up again. I stood there and waited for him to dig again but he didn’t. This happened several times in a row. Then once again, I came back to see the runs raised and I quietly snuck down next to the pool. Then it happened… I saw him digging but I was afraid if I stepped any closer, he would hear me and stop. I decided to take a really wide sideways step to stomp down his access. It was more than my leg could take, and it buckled! I fell to the ground, but I rolled over and dug out the mole! Mission accomplished! My neighbor saw the whole thing happen and hollered out, “Are you okay?” Well, I thought maybe I had hurt my ankle in the process when my leg buckled but it ended up being worse than that. The next morning my knee was swollen, off to the doctor I went. During Covid they would not do an MRI on my knee but through an ultrasound diagnosed me with a torn MCL (I would later find out my ACL was torn as well). I was told that MCL tears will heal I just needed to be in a big brace. I will say my wife was not the happiest when I went out to catch moles in a leg brace. LOL. The brace was awkward and threw me off trying to stomp behind the moles. I needed a new system. Then it hit me! What if I just punched behind the mole and pulled it out of the ground alive? I bet people would think that was crazy!
All that was left was to try out my new technique. The next time I saw a mole digging I got down on all fours. I waited for him to dig again then reared back and punched right behind him! I quickly began digging then pulled the mole right out! I was pumped! I raised up and heard my neighbor yell, “Did you get him?” I had no clue that anyone was watching but I turned around and saw my neighbor along with his wife and kids all standing on their back deck. They had told me previously that when I would come into their yard that their kids would say, “It’s the Mole Guy!” They enjoyed watching me out the window. I walked over to them, and they proceeded to tell me that they couldn’t figure out what was going on. They saw me crawling on the ground, then punching the ground! LOL. I explained to them what I was doing and showed them their little digger. That’s how POUND THE GROUND was born! Once I found out it worked, I was hooked! Time after time I would see the mole move and I would get into place. My heart would begin to race just like someone seeing that big Buck coming through the woods! It was like Mole Fever instead of Buck Fever. I would punch the ground and pull out the mole! What a rush! As an adrenaline junkie I had found my new fix.

Do moles bite?
Yes! Moles have 44 teeth and they are sharp! I have only been bit hard one time but it was my fault. Check out this video!
Why are you punching the moles?
You are not punching the mole, you are punching behind them collapsing their tunnel so they can be safely removed, translocated and released.
Will applying Grubex to my lawn get rid of my moles?
No… it may get rid of the grubs, but earthworms are the biggest part of a moles diet. You do not want to get rid of earthworms as they are good for your soil. I often say when you catch a mole you are ‘Saving worms one mole at a time!’
Do moles carry diseases?
I have read that moles can carry rabies, but it is not very common. The dirt that a mole excavates while digging though can contain a bacteria called listeria. This bacteria can lead to Listeriosis in sheep, cattle and other animals sometimes resulting in death. Always wash your hands after dealing with mole issues.
Can you use Juicy Fruit to get rid of moles?
No. This is an old wives’ tale. Moles are insectivorous. Some people put a piece of chewed up gum in a mole run believing the mole will eat the gum, not be able to digest it and die. I flip that narrative on it’s head saying, “Nine out of ten moles prefer Juicy Fruit.” LOL
What do you do with the moles?
In 2023 I began translocating moles to a new territory located in the woods. They are removed from the dirt and transported to their new home in the MOLE-TEL I built for the back of my car. If you choose to do the same, you will need to check the laws of your state or country before doing so. You do not want to do something illegal or give someone else your mole problem.
What can I do about mole hills?
The best thing I can tell you about mole hills is the first day they come up, go grab your leaf blower. The excavated dirt is like sand. If you blow the dirt it will disappear in your surrounding grass because it is so fine. You will see one small hole maybe the size of a half a dollar and your other grass should be okay. Most people stomp them down and mow over them. This just spreads the dirt out and kills all the grass underneath. You will have a yard full of dirt patches. Once a mole excavates in between two hills the tunnel has been cleared. Hopefully, eventually he will start making runs and then you catch him!
Why not leave just them alone?
Moles can do a lot of damage to your yard or fields with farm animals. People and livestock have been injured by stepping into their tunnels or holes sometimes breaking a leg. My friend’s mother stepped in a mole run and fell breaking her shoulder and had to have shoulder replacement. Also, mole hills can contain bacteria called listeria which in the worst cases can kill livestock.
